Since many quilters use needles, a needle prick could allow a drop of blood to stain the quilt. You should be familiar with the immediate ways to get rid of the blood before it sets in your quilt. 3 solutions follow…..

1) Apply cold water to remove the blood stain. Be cautious and aware that the water may dampen the front of the quilt and remove markings.

2) Hydrogen Peroxide can be applied with a cotton tipped swab to remove blood. However, pretest on a scrap of ALL fabrics used on your quilt and test a scrap with the marking method used.

3) Your own saliva applied to quilts to remove fresh bloodstains. The enzyme in your saliva decolorizes blood.

Clean you cutting board especially when you are going from dark to light fabrics or vice versa. Take a lint brush and sweep across the board a few times.

Use baby wipes gently to clean fabric that has ink from a foundation pattern after ironing.

When cleaning out the interior of your machine, use the aerosol spray that is used for cleaning keyboards and computers. This aerosol can spray clean air. No oils or other contaminants to worry about.

Lint Roller. Usually used to roll on your clothing to remove lint. For quilting - can be used to roll off small loose threads off of your project.
